Nerida Glanfield opened Allegro Dance at Weatherburn Way, Kardinya, in January 2010, and teaches every class held at the studio. Nerida has been teaching dance for over 25 years and yoga for almost 15 years.
Nerida worked in management in the professional performing arts industry for many years. As such, she has a unique perspective as a dance teacher. Her focus is on dance contributing to a student’s growth into a well-rounded person rather than an eye purely towards life as a competitive and then professional dancer. This ethos is the guiding principle of Allegro Dance.
From Kalgoorlie, Nerida’s studio Dance Boutique enjoyed great success. Her students scored top marks in their exams, won local dance competitions including Most Promising Dancer of the annual Dance Out Festival, and placed at competitions including the West Coast Dance Festival and the Mandurah Dance Festival. This success has continued with Allegro Dance.
Nerida has a Bachelor of Arts (Arts Management) from the WA Academy of Performing Arts, a teaching diploma from the Australian Theatrical Dance Association and a Master of Arts (Studies in Religion) from the University of New England. Nerida was Manager of the Goldfields Arts Centre in Kalgoorlie for 12 years from 1996 – 2008.
